There was only 3 cars this year, shame as our last trip had 12 cars travelling to Holland.
We met up with Jo Gerry Dave and Teresa at Thurrock services and made our way over the Dartford Bridge around the M25 and down the A3.
Along the A3 we went through the Hindhead Tunnel and what a sound, 3 Tvrs growling at their best. I couldn’t hear my car as Gerry was the loudest in his Tamora.
We decided to to visit Loomies Moto Cafe for lunch. This is a biker’s cafe just past Petersfield on the A272 famous for its lovely winding road.
After a nice Bacon Roll and Coffee we headed to our hotel on the edge of the New Forest.
The Next Morning we drove to Beaulieu to visit the famous Motor Museum. They had a special James Bond exhibition featuring all the cars from the film No Time To Die.
In the centre was the famous Aston Martin DB5, they also had the Range Rover they rolled. Still with the mud and damage to it. and most of the other cars used in the film.
This is quite a big Museum and it took us a few hours to see most of it. outside we visited the Top Gear exhibition and saw lots of the vehicles used over the years from the Clarkson era to the latest series. We then jumped on a 1915 bus to visit Lord Montague’s home. They only let you have access to part of the house but it was interesting seeing how they lived. The original car museum actually started in the house and grew from there.
Friday we had a nice drive through the New forest seeing all the lovely Horses and Ponies with some cute young Fowls, we carried on to Mudeford by the sea and had a lovely Breakfast outside in the sun. We then decided to drive to Sandbanks to see all the large expensive houses where a few celebrities live.
Saturday we went to Sammy Millers Motorcycle Museum, which was only 30 mins away but we again went through the forest to see more of the wild Horses and Ponies.
When we arrived we were ushered to park right next to the museum rather than park in the car park they knew a good looking car when they saw us.
I didn’t realise how big the museum was, its the largest in the uk and home to over 300 bikes. Most of the makers of motorcycles from 1900s to 1940s I’ve never heard of.
Dave and I used to be bikers so we found it very interesting.
Sunday, Jo had arranged to visit Salisbury Race Course to see the Horse Racing. We left early so on the way I took everyone on a tour around Salisbury looking for somewhere to park. There was a couple of events on so was very busy. We parked up eventually and Sue and Teresa and I went to see the cathedral, I had forgotten how big it was. After a walk round we met up with Jo and the others and drove to the Racecourse. It was packed with a car park a mile long. We had a great day betting on all the races. Sue bet on a horse she liked the sound of and it won. I went deaf as Sue was shouting her encouragement for her horse. Out of 7 races we won 4 of them. In the Evening Sue kept to her word and bought us all a drink out of her winnings.
Thanks to Jo and Gerry for organising a lovely Trip, the Hotel was perfect with a lovely Pub 200 yds away that we frequented every night. And to Dave and Teresa for their great company.
I have added Photos to the Events Gallery
