On Sunday 4th June 2023 we set off for our annual trip. This time Jo decided on the Lincolnshire Wolds.
We decided to meet at Phils house which is on the way. After a nice Tea and Biscuits supplied by Liz, Four Tvrs one Porshe and Phil in his DB7 set off up the A12. Our first stop was Browns Cafe at Mundford, this is a bikers cafe so quite a few bikes to look at. after a nice lunch we set off again. after an 80 mile drive up the A14 and A134 we visited the Bubble Car Museum in Boston .
This is a small museum built up from a private collection of over 50 microcars from isetta bubblecars to Bond bugs.plus lots of 50s and 60s memorabilia. we then travelled to Louth where our hotel is based.
Monday we decided to visit Cleethorpes, a seaside resort near Grimsby. After a nice Breakfast we visited the Crazy Golf and had a hilarious time trying to negotiate the obstacles with our little balls. We added up our scores and Gerry won the tournament.
We then drove to Grimsby to visit the Heritage Centre but found it was closed so instead we went for a walk down the high street and had a nice coffee.
Tuesday Phil suggested visiting Lincoln, so off we set for Lincoln Catherdral. We parked next to the castle and walked to the Cathedral. What a lovely picturesque place, little shops and tiny streets. Whilst a few went on the Tour of the Cathedral we had a drink in the nearest pub.
We then walked down the steep lanes to the Town where we had a nice drink in an old pub on the river.
Wednesday, we went for a nice breakfast at Farmer Browns Café near Alford. That morning the A16 was closed due to a car accident so I led the way via the back roads getting lost a couple of times. We met Paul with his 350i wedge who is a local Tvr member. He had contacted me and asked if he could join us for the day. After a full English breakfast we drove to Skegness. We managed to find a carpark on the front where we met Steve and Debbie who joined us for the last 3 days. We visited the seal sanctuary and saw seals meerkats penguins goats plus many more animals. After a nice walk along the front we set off for a Pub and decided on the Royal Oak inn Splash near Lincoln. What a lovely drive through the countryside. When we got there I led down a single track road and suddenly a car coming towards me couldn’t stop in time and ended up the bank 6 inches from my car. Close escape.
Thursday, Phil suggested - International Bomber command centre- near Lincoln.
What an amazing place, I managed to park us all in a line on the grass outside and went around the Museum. It showed us how the RAF controlled all the bombers during the war, and there’s a lovely Memorial to all the Crew who died during the conflict.
Friday was our last day so we drove to - Tea in the Woods – at Woodhall Spa where we had another English Breakfast. We then drove back to Browns café at Mundford for a Coffee. Then made our way home.
It was a great trip, the weather could have been warmer but at least it stayed dry.
