TVR have been a big part of the Hilton & Moss business for many years, with TVR owners trusting them with Sevicing, panel work, restorations and the specialist job of handling fibreglass repairs.
We arranged to meet at our usual meeting point at Boreham for a planned convoy to the Hilton & Moss facility. There was a great turnout, in the run up to the day I had twenty five members contact me wishing to attend. Eight of our members decided to drive directly there, therefore leaving seventeen cars for the convoy.
My Brother-in-law, Michael and I arrived to find five TVR’s already lined up. Shortly after, more members arrived with Bruce arriving in his Mustang as his Sagaris was being serviced!
At 9.30am, we all made our way to the facility, it was a great line up of cars and very noisy. Time to wake up the Essex countryside!
After a pleasant sunny drive with the roof off, we arrived and quickly filled up all the parking spaces at Hilton & Moss and made our way into the main entrance. We all enjoyed teas and coffees and bumped into some old faces from the past and other TVR clubs. The Hilton & Moss team then took us on a tour around the facility where we were impressed by the incredible cars they had. At the Ground floor showroom level we saw a Jaguar Knobbly which has an estimated value of £1.5-2m! We also saw an awesome specification TVR Sagaris, finished in Chameleon Orange which used to be the TVR press car! Further along we saw an Aston Martin Vanquish, Mercedes SL Sports car and many other superb cars in perfect showroom condition.
We made our way up to the first floor to see cars that were due to be renovated, including an E type Jaguar needing full restoration plus completely bare Aston Martin, DB5 and DB6 bodies in bare Aluminium waiting restoration. It was also great to see completed restoration projects, a V8S and a DB5 both finished to an incredibly high standard.
We all then made our way up to the 2nd floor to find a collection of cars for sale, mainly a selection of TVR’s, Lotus Elise's and an Evora GT. The group made our way out onto the new facilities terrace where we were greeted with a BBQ and enjoyed burgers and sausages. All the food certainly went down a treat!
The Hilton & Moss team then provided a tour of their workshops located behind the New facilty. There were lots of different ranges of cars, a Porsche 356, Jaguar Mk2, Ferrari Testarossa, including a few modern ones such as a couple of Tesla’s and a couple of new Land Rover Defenders having bodywork repairs, we then went down to the ground floor and saw two TVR Wedges, a Noble M400, and some 60s classic Mercedes Saloons! Plus a beautiful Blue Jag E type, we then went over to the New Facility again passing lots of Tvr’s parked in the car park. We entered the back of the new facility and passed lots of classic cars being repaired, In a corner was a Lotus Europa once owned by racing legend Graham Hill, it had his racing helmet on the back seat. The car is now owned by Damon Hill who stores it at Hilton Moss.
We all had a great day, really enjoying the experience, Many thanks to all those that attended.
and thank you to Hilton Moss for the Invitation.
